My Experience with a Tedious and Misleading Interview Process I recently underwent a 2.5-month-long interview process with StackAdapt, including four interview rounds and a time-consuming take-home assignment. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Initial Round: I had my first interview with HR. After a week, I was informed that the role had been paused. Resumption and Second Round: Two weeks later, HR contacted me, saying the role resumed. During the second round, I learned that the role required strong copywriting skills. At the end of the 2nd round, I was provided with a detailed take-home assignment that focused heavily on copywriting, even though the job description listed a variety of other responsibilities. Companies need to stop misleading candidates with vague job descriptions. Third Round: This was a panel interview in which they praised me for my assignment, calling it one of the best they had received so far. I was then shortlisted for the final round with the VP. Final Round: The final round happened after a couple of reschedules from the company with the VP of Marketing. During the interview, she provided lots of positive feedback and mentioned how the previous interviewers impressed me and my skills. After all this, a couple of days later, HR informed me that I was rejected because they found a candidate whose skills were "more closely aligned with the role" and declined to provide any detailed feedback over email and insisted on a telephone call for the feedback. During the call, HR gave vague feedback and provided no clear reasons for my rejection. This was more frustrating because they couldn't assess my alignment with the role until the fourth round of the interview and based on the detailed assignment. This would have been ok, but then I noticed that the position was reopened for hiring meaning, the feedback was not true either. My Takeaway: I'm actually relieved that I wasn't hired, considering the potential for future dissatisfaction, especially given the current trend of layoffs. However, I want to highlight how misleading and inefficient their interview process is. Candidates deserve transparency and honesty, especially after investing significant time and effort. This company's interview process is average at best, lacking in-depth questions. It seems they've grown too quickly, resulting in employees with minimal skill sets getting quick promotions. I hope they learn to conduct better interviews and treat candidates with the honesty they deserve.
