      Entretien

For some context, I was a new graduate applying to positions at the time. I was applying for a full stack position, but my web development skills were weak (and still are since I am now an Android developer). I was sent a code challenge to complete, which unfortunately I struggled with. To my surprise and joy, I received a callback and for an in person interview. However, when I had arrived, they put me in a room and the interviewer said that he needed a moment, and returned in 15 minutes telling me that my answers to the code challenge were awful. Indeed, they had not even looked at my code until it was time for my interview. He then patronizingly suggested that I instead perform the backend interview rather than the frontend one, acting as if they were doing me some huge favour. I accepted, but I was frazzled and unsurprisingly bombed that. Overall, I had wasted two and a half hours commuting because they couldn't be bothered to look at my code until I was sitting in their office. As well, based on the four employees I interacted with when I was there, I got a sense that the company has a bro culture which is very much not for me.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Why did you apply for this position? You clearly don't know web development.

      1. Phone Screen I spoke with the director of talent acquisition. He was really friendly, kind, and professional. Most importantly he was very prompt which is refreshing while job searching. 2. HackerRank Online Test Challenging but doable within the time limit. Pretty standard for software interviews. 3. 2.5 hour in-Person Interview I was greeted by the director of talent acquisition and then proceeded to do 3 rounds of interviews, each with one developer. Each round lasted about 45 minutes and consisted of 1-2 questions. The interviewers were friendly, patient, and helpful. They gently guided you towards a solution if you got stuck and explained the rational behind questions and solutions. The interviewers also took some time to talk about themselves, answer questions, and describe the company. Afterwards I was given a tour of their office and met some of the other developers.
