I was hired through a big hiring event, which is a bi abnormal. Basically one location hosted this event where a few hundred people all applied, and the company hired a bunch and placed them all over the county. Some were fired fairly quickly, but basically if you were willing work and learn, they kept you. It was never a real threat to those who tried.
