      Entretien

The initial contact came through a phone call. On the call, I had a "mini" interview with the admin (This is the first person I met when I got to the office, but she is not the interviewer.). She asked me questions like "What experience have you had where you had to take leadership role?" and "Why did you choose to apply for _____?" I was invited for an interview over the phone and sent an email to confirm the schedule. The building looked a little old, which made me uncomfortable. It didn't look very reputable from the outside. The office was another story. They had music blaring from USB-plug in speakers. The music they were playing seemed a bit unprofessional to me. They played songs that said "Put that booty on the ground!". The volume of the music made it seem like I was in my car with the windows rolled down blasting music on the radio. Mind you, we we're dressed in business professional clothes. I was very shocked at the environment there. The admin had me fill out another sort of paper, like a mini resume and a page of questionnaire. Those questions are pretty important to them. They talk a lot about your answers during the interview. My appointment was set for 2 pm. (Others were set at that time too. I didn't understand that. )They called us in one by one. The interview was about 15-30 minutes long. Because they set the appointment time at 2 pm for everyone, there was quite a wait before my turn. I had the interview an hour after the set time. On the bright side, the admin was very nice and sociable. She helped break the ice for us candidates so we were all able to socialize about random and funny things. That was enjoyable. I could tell that if I worked there that I'd make friends easily. 1st Interview - After an hour wait, I met the manager. He led me to his office and started the interview process. Like I stated earlier, your answers from the questionnaire is what the manager will ask you about. I don't remember the questions word for word, but it's along the lines of "What do you see yourself doing in 15 years?" "What's your biggest strength/weakness?" "What motivates you the most?". If the manager thinks you're fit for the job, you'll be invited to a second interview. 2nd Interview - This process was very unusual. Out of the 8 or so people that were interviewed, about 3-4 of us were invited back. They invited us at 12:30 pm for a lunch with the managers. Each person had a personal manager for the 2nd interview. They sent us out by 2's to Jason's Deli for lunch. At lunch, he discussed with me the actual job. Everyone starts at entry level. He explained how they promote rank per rank and what each position makes. They pay $300/week or $125 per sale for the first 3 positions. The last 2 ranks earn you more money. To reach those ranks, the manager showed me first hand how they did it. We left Jason's Deli and headed to a nearby Walmart. We walked towards the electronics department. The manager grabbed a table, set it up, opened his bag and began to set up a table to prepare his selling. As each customer walked by, he began to use his selling method whether the customer was listening or not. It was quite embarrassing for me to watch. He was turned down the whole time I was there. After about a few customers, he told me that's how they did it. Rejection after rejection until finally someone buys. Conclusion - The final process was to answer 3 questions for them. I forgot what the questions were, but they were pretty much the same as the questionnaire. "How will ______ help you achieve your goals?" "Why do you want ______ as a career?". They told me to answer the question by email within that day and then they'd consider the best person for the team.
