I have interviewed twice at Southern Company. The first time I was required to do 2 interviews. Both interviews consisted of a panel of 2-3 recruiters; the first one was in-person and the second one was on Zoom. When you interview, you don't interview for a specific position. Rather, you are interviewing for a range of jobs they offer and, after selecting specific industries, you hope they offer you a position you would like. I requested an internship position, but they offered me 2 co-ops instead which I had to reject. The second time I interviewed was this year and it was horrible. The first interview went relatively the exact same in-person and I was invited to move on to the next step. In the second interview, I joined the Zoom meeting and they made me and another applicant wait an entire hour in a breakroom before they sent us to respective interviewers. I felt that the interview went okay but I never got a reply months later. It was super unprofessional to keep us waiting for so long and it was so different from the first time where I got a response in about a month. I'm not sure if they just had a flood of applicants or were revamping their system or what, but I definitely wasn't pleased the second time around. It's always annoying having to do 2 (sometimes 3) interviews at a company and Southern Company is always sending you invites for events before your interview that they strongly recommend which takes additional time commitment.
