The interview process consisted of two rounds:
- Initial Recruiter Screen: A general conversation covering background and role expectations
- Technical Interview: Conducted with two team members focusing on technical knowledge
The technical portion felt misaligned for a senior-level position. Rather than exploring complex problem-solving abilities or system design thinking, the interview focused heavily on basic definitional questions. For example, I was asked to explain fundamental concepts like the difference between ETL and ELT processes.
For a senior role, I expected more in-depth discussions about architecture decisions and trade-offs in technology choices.
