I felt that I had experienced sexist behavior during part of the interview process. I was spoken to in a rude/attacking manner with demeaning phrases such as "do you even know react native?" and basically insinuating that im not an engineer/ couldn't be an engineer. This happened during the virtual onsite, after having done their technical interview and I have 2 years of experience being a mobile engineer. As a female software engineer i have often found myself having to prove myself to male colleagues unfortunately, but hearing such statements during the interview process, it was definitely a shock and very upsetting. Following the virtual onsite with the shopper mobile team, I was asked to get on another call with the manager and the person from the virtual onsite, out of the blue. The manager seemed to be defensive and it seemed that the person from the onsite was able to sway his opinion on my candidacy. The experience left me feeling traumatized, I still cant wrap my head around what happened. I really wish I hadn’t interviewed here just for that experience. The interview itself was HR call. Call with manager and a team member. A technical round, pretty easy, I was asked to turn a class component into a functional one. Then a virtual onsite with 7 people. Lastly an out of the blue call for a final round with manager and engineer. Then HR followed up with an email for a quick chat for next day to let me know that i didn't get the position.
