      Entretien

      The interview process had 3 stages. Stage 1 was a preliminary conversation with the recruiter. Stage 2 was an interview with the hiring manager. Stage 3 was a day of interviews including a panel interview followed by 4 1:1 interviews with various team members. If you pass the interview stage, an offer will be extended.

      Thorough but respectable interview process. It consisted of an initial screener, a more in-depth video call interview, and a 3-hour onsite panel (along with a couple calls in between to clarify things and touch base). One massive positive is that they went FAST. I appreciate that they were respectful of my time given that I was applying while currently employed and had restricted hours. In spite of that I still finished the process within a couple weeks. The hiring team was communicative the entire way through: they let me know how I did after each step and immediately booked follow-ups. Overall I felt that the time investment was worthwhile for helping me better understand the company’s core values and expectations, and for ensuring I’d be around a team of reliable coworkers who went through the same type of vetting.

      5 hours of self-absorbed robots. Originally applied due to interest in the technology. Recruiter was fantastic, but after meeting with over 10 people across the course of the interview process, realized that she was the only one who had an inkling of personality among the entire office after the onsite. The onsite is ridiculously 5 hours long and in the center of the day, making it inconvenient for those who are still working. Once there, I immediately recognized that everyone introduced themselves in the first sentence by their school pedigree. They rest on their school laurels & previous company names as their current output is not impressive. Serious concerns about future product & company scalability. After a prepared presentation and one-on-ones with managers, there was a lunch which I thought would be a good mental break and time to get to know some teammates on a more personal level. Turned out to be just an opportunity for 4 lower level employees to also grill me with the same repetitive questions. They were not looking for a well rounded hire, but more so another robot to add to their ranks. There is absolutely no work culture of any kind. The office was eerily dead silent and no one I spoke to seemed of a fun nature. The last one-on-one was with the CEO, and lived up to all the other interview descriptions - megalomaniac who seems to have never learned how to speak to humans. I understand it's an interview to see if I am a good fit, but what I think he failed to understand was that I am also gauging if I would like to work there. It was easy to make that decision early on in the conversation with him, and threw the interview on purpose. Best part: when CEO spoke of - and I kid you not - upholding the values of the Declaration of Independence
