I was approached by a recruiter and attended 2 introductory interviews, one with the head of talent and the other with the head of engineering. The head of talent really knew his stuff, while the vp of engineering was a good guy but did not impress (he tried to sell the company but he gave me generic non-answers more often than not). In my current role I do both development and design, and they said they have openings for both. They asked for my design portfolio, then rejected me straight away with the mention they have better candidates in the pipeline on both avenues. That's fair, but I was more interested in the development side and they haven't addressed that at all. If it were other reasons, like cultural fit, I would have happily taken the feedback. Both interviews were non technical and highly focussed on personality and fit, with behavioural questions that went deep and had to be well backed.
