As a premedical student, I needed a job for the summer after graduation that would also give clinical experience, so I applied first to ScribeAmerica. I also made sure to apply way ahead of when candidates usually apply. I applied in December and my local hiring manager did a great job keeping in contact with me for over 5 months (interviewed in May; keep in mind HMs may be different in different places). HM told me that applicants typically apply ~2 weeks in advance of when they want to start. Prior to the interviewI'm reliant on public transportation, so I had a video conference interview with the HM and the Chief Scribe of the local hospital. Interview was quite informal; HM was in clinic and so was distracted by other people talking to him. HM conducted initial + logistical questions (tell me about yourself, typing speed, availability, what types of classes you took in college, etc.), and Chief Scribe gave the real interview-y questions (tell me about a time when you were put in so-and-so position, failures/successes, what do you think a scribe does, etc.). Total time was 30 min. Notified ~24 hours later of my acceptance. Training for ~2-3 weeks is required with a potential drug test and definite background check.
