I made it to the first round. The hiring manager said they are going through a large number of applicants and will make a decision after "meeting" everyone, which I thought was weird. Usually, HR would go through the resumes and pick the top 5 best candidates then have them interview with the Hiring Manager. From there, they will decide on which 3 would interview with the Hiring Manager's boss. Then they would discuss who will get the offer, with the 2 candidates being strong choices for replacements in case the first choice turns down the offer.
I guess every company has their ways...
