I received the JD from a recruiter. I’ve neither applied to this position before, nor heard of this company before. I was thrilled.
After I submitted my revised cv and I landed an interview back in August 2018, the interview had three stages, technical assessment and two rounds of one-to-one and face-to-face interview with two different team lead.
Although the technical assessment got only ten MCQs, which are merely on the general accounting knowledge, but you gotta have a strong one because some of those are rarely seen on book, at least not for ACCA student without working experience.
All interviews were done in the same day on the same morning before 12pm, the first one was a bit stiff, he’s trying to picture me how bad the challenge can be and how stressful I may get myself into, I can’t recall much of a detail as I was really focusing on what he’s trying to say. He’s foreigner, so need to get used to his accent.
The second one, was in a meeting. But astonishingly fast tracked when I met him up. Similarly, he’s a foreigner too. However, he’s more friendly and teased that the previous interviewer was more upfront and he meant me no harm. It’s expected there. We finished the interview in less than 10 minutes, without discussing my availability, my remuneration package, who would I report to, it’s a brief interview.
I leave without knowing what’s going on actually, thought I might have blown it. One week later the recruiter called and informed I’m selected and they are going to offer me a job.
Only until two weeks months later, till early of October, I confirmed with the HR that I’m selected and offer letter will be sent once they obtain the exemption order from their head quarter in Paris.
Then the process takes a long long time to go with. It didn’t come, until the end of October either. I called and checked again on 1st of November and finally get the positive reply with my offer letter emailed on the same day, in the evening.
Sadly, it wasn’t what I expected, the basic offered was below my expected remuneration and there’s no room for negotiation. I was kinda disappointed and attempted to negotiate with the HR, however it didn’t work.
I took up the offer either way and went for the medical checkup on the following week. Figured it would be a good opportunity and exposure to work with such a reputable and grand size company.
I will join them soon and more details to be iron now between us and see how it goes.
