The interview was in person at an office with a few members from the IT dept with various roles. They all seemed nice and positive. They spent most of the time talking about the role, the college, and going on tangents in jest. It was weird because they ask little of me or about me. (Red flag 1). At one point they said I may be ask to move furniture for the president. I’m not sure that was even a joke. After the interview I got 0 information on what the next steps would be. (Red flag 2) I tried reaching out to the hiring manager and the admin but nothing. (Red flag 3) They didn’t respond or update me for about 3 months until I finally got a generic email that they declined to move forward. I was expecting a little more courtesy than that and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Between my experience and knowing how higher Ed hiring works, I question if I was ever being considered for the role to begin with.
