      Entretien pour Senior Software Engineer

J'ai passé un entretien chez Rokt (New York, NY) en déc. 2022

      Entretien

Started off with a recruiter screen and then a technical phone screen. Had a few parts (I had 4-5 parts) to a easy/medium leetcode-esque problem. Tested knowledge of fundamentals cs concepts as well as multithreading. The next round was a coding round, systems design round and a 30 min chat with the CTO. Seemed fairly easy if I am being honest. The system design round asked me to design a system which will integrate with banks and the user can ask for things like what's my total balance etc. The interviewer seemed rather quiet and didn't have many follow up questions. He finished the interview 15 mins early and wanted to end it early for some reason after answering my questions. The coding round involved matching two strings. It had multiple parts (not sure how many) i solved two of them. The round with the VP seemed to have gone okay, he asked me about what projects I worked on and to briefly explain them. At the end he mentioned I was good as far as he was concerned but he would have to see with the other interviewers. A couple of days later I was told they won't be moving forward. Didn't give a reason why. Just that they "enjoyed" meeting with me. My assumption is that they had already filled the position with someone else and my interview was just a formality. The reason I am saying this is because they wanted to schedule my second round of interviews a couple of days prior to what was originally agreed upon and my recruiter mentioned that they were willing to extend an offer the same week if my interviews went well. I declined since I had other commitments.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

You are given two strings s1, and s2. Return true if they are equal or false otherwise. Assume that you can have a wild card character in s1 denoted by a '.' Ex- i) r.kt, rokt returns true ii) r.k, rokt return false The second part involved the same but now instead of a period you will have a digit which denotes how many wild card characters there are. For example if you have a3d then it basically translates to a...d. Ex: i) r1kt, rokt - returns true ii) r2k, rokt - returns false

After application submission, recruiter reached out asking me to complete a Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) and the Employee Personality Profile (EPP) tests. Never heard back from the recruiter after completing them - takes about 30 minutes of my time to do those tests and the recruiter doesn't have the decency to spend 30 seconds with a followup email.

3 major rounds: Hiring manager round followed by a virtual onsite consisting of a coding screen, system design and technical leadership. Final round is an Amazon-style Bar Raiser with a senior leader. The recruiting team was responsive and accommodating with respect to scheduling each round in the loop.

IQ test, phone screen, onsite with coding, system design and behavioral. Then bar raiser with c level. ICs were nice, friendly and smart. C level bar raiser round is ridiculous. They don't know much about business or product. Kept asking biggest challenge in personal life. Long working hours. They expect you to work at least 50 - 60 hrs per week or longer. They don't care about what the company can offer, they only care about what you can bring to the company.
