      Entretien

Store did not have enough space in the backroom, so I was interviewed in a noisy Starbucks next door, by a manager (I think?) who had no idea who I was and clearly hadn't even looked at my resume. However, judging by the employee reviews here, I believe she was more than likely an overworked and underpaid manager who was tasked with interviewing, with no training on how to do so. The interview process was gruelling, consisting of over an hour of rapid-fire questions that seemed to have the solitary goal of putting you on the spot and making you stumble and make mistakes, rather than learning anything about you, your capabilities as an employee, and whether you're a fit for the role. It felt more like doing a high school exam than being interviewed for a job - an exercise in box-ticking for a set of standards that nobody can feasibly meet 100% of. Again, reading the reviews here, I can see that this was probably intentional. I understand having high expectations and standards, but this interview was quite ridiculous, disorganised and felt unfair from the outset. I don't blame the interviewer, however the process and questions were very revealing. It appears that I dodged a bullet, being knocked back due to a lack of experience (nearly 10 years was not enough, apparently).

      Question 1

What was one question they didn't ask me? I don't remember all 100+ questions on the sheet that the interviewer was reading from.

The in-person interview itself was fine, interviewed by one of the owners and it felt very unstructured. Not in like a "this is conversational and laid-back" sort of way. More so like they had no idea what to ask. It was a lengthy interview process for a retail position which I honestly felt was a little over the top. A phone screen, zoom call, then in person interview with tasks to complete like it was high school. The salary didn't justify the interview process. I didn't feel respected by the process as it also took nearly 2 months for an answer from the initial induction of the process. Overall it wasn't a good interview experience compared to others I've had.

Questions about my experience and what I like to read.
