A friend submitted my application internally to the R&D team. It took around 2 weeks for the recruiter to contact me and we had a very awkward 10-minute chat about what the design test would entail (not really a typical phone screen). The design test is only meant to take 5 hours and I would say that's accurate for how long it actually took me. It took a week for them to get back to me on the next step.
First Interview: I was told this would be a "behavioral interview" with two lead designers. However, it was more of a design interview and they didn't ask me any behavioral questions.
Second Interview: I was told this would be a "design craft interview" and with a designer and the design director. This interview was almost identical to the first which I found a little annoying because I was't going to be showing any new strengths or weaknesses.
My design test was not brought up at all which was a bit disappointing. I was only asked about creating new content/expansions for existing games (that Riot had not made, which is great cause then you can be pretty sure you aren't doing free work for them). The interviews were about a week apart.
When I was told they wouldn't be continuing with my candidacy for the role, they offered to schedule an optional "feedback" interview so that I could know why they came to that decision and where I was weak in my design skills. I chose to do so, and was also able to offer them feedback about the interviews which seemed to be taken seriously. I haven't ever had a company do this before and considering all the Riot is going through right now, I was pleasantly surprised and am very open to working for them in the future because of how the leads on their R&D teams take feedback.

Questions were pretty random and the interview questions feels a little aimless, not sure what they look for, at least I can answers better. The introductory call asked more game Design question than the company and role objectives.

I applied on their site and received an email after a couple of weeks for an interview with HR. After 1 week I received another email saying I passed and that they wanted to program a technical interview.
