      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 6 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Ridecell en févr. 2018

      Entretien

Unprofessionalism at its best! These guys are unbelievably unprofessional, with the exception of the recruiter. Very good initial call with the recruiter which was followed by a phone call with an engineering manager (also the hiring manager). The call was rescheduled a couple of times, and that's ok. But the person to interview me (supposedly the hiring manager) also changed. Anyway, had my call with the hiring manager. The call was alright, some general questions. In any case, I didn't hear back anything for 3 days. So, thinking that it was over, I sent a thank you note to the recruiter to convey it to the hiring manager. He told me that they would like me to come over for an on-site. I went for the on-site, the first person to interview me was late. But he was very polite to apologize for it. Then he couldn't find a room to interview me. Finally, there was a room available but another interviewer wasn't. Another Senior Engineering leader who was scheduled to meet me didn't even bother to show up. Another manager interviewing me from his home. I had to ask him a few times to repeat his questions as I had difficulties understanding him. He had some good questions though. The product management interaction was really nice and I enjoyed my lunch interview. The second half of the day was a project exercise which I was expected to present a group of 5-6 individuals toward the end of day. The guy who was supposed to give this exercise to me was "so busy" that I had to wait over an hour for him. He asked me to create a pricing system for them. It really was just that sentence. Nothing written. I sensed that there was something wrong. In any case, I clarified with this person that I need to create product specs, make assumptions, and layout a basic architecture. He said "whatever you want to ...". I told him that we have about 2.5 hours and I will take a stab at it and asked him if he could come by and checkin a couple of times with me for any questions. When he didn't show up for over an hour, I asked the recruiting coordinator to track him down. Finally he showed up an hour and a half later. He essentially nodded to whatever I said. I created a document with everything and decided to create a few REST services skeletons using docker containers. He liked it. For group presentation, he told me that no one else is available and I could just present it to him. That was really odd! Not sure if they had someone else accept the offer in the middle of my interview, or priorities changed, or what not? But I think they should have either been honest about it or carried out the entire process in a professional manner.
