The experience has been in line with the (low) expectations I had I have been contacted for a Senior Engineer role. Initially i wasn't sure I wanted to invest time in this process because i had heard something about ridiculous recruiting practices and a toxic workplace. Meeting a good recruiter, though, made me change my mind and think "let's give this a try" The first stage was a live coding session. The problem at hand was quite simple, the critical part of the interview was to show that you write your code incrementally and test every single tiny case. They might also ask you "unconventional" things like to write a test verifying that the result of a method call is random The second stage was a "tech call" which involved more coding (extremely simple this time) and few questions about DB (isolation, indexes) , Resilience patterns, Deployment strategies etc. I was told to be prepared with a solid theoretic foundation, but when i have tried to go deep into these topics, i have found out that the expected answers were way more practical. This resulted in me wasting some interview time (which is a very important aspect for them because, more than the interaction with the candidate, it seems that they have to fill in a checklist of things you have answered) The third stage was System design. The interviewer has given me a brief and (intentionally, I guess) very vague description of a product to design. Even though there was some misunderstanding here and there, I was able to discuss all the requirements, propose a solution, answer a few challenge-questions the interviewer asked me by extending the proposed design and describe provided API; in a nutshell, I have managed to finish the task and I felt there were no red-flags detected from the interviewer. Plus, he told me that i was gonna receive a feedback in max. 2 days After that call, Revolut has disappeared from my life. I have dedicated a lot of time to prepare myself for these interviews (more than it requires TBH) and this is the way i was treated. Even if for some (unexpected) reason the last round went bad, I won't never know what this reason is, but reading from other experiences here, it's possible that it's not gonna be something i can really work on (apart from just increasing my luck) On top of that, the "good recruiter" seemed have let me down too because, after being extremely nice, empathetic and supportive, he's just ruthlessly ghosted me if this is the way they treat their potential employees, i can't imagine what it means to be an actual employee. Moreover, from the questions I have asked to various interviewers, I have tried to understand if they were excited and motivated about working in Revolut and from their body language I got a subtle feeling that the opinion was "I regret to be here"

The experience was similar to what has already been described by others. I passed the first two stages but did not pass the system design interview. My first attempt was definitely on me — I was not prepared well enough. I took the feedback seriously, prepared much better for the second attempt, and expected a more balanced evaluation. However, the second system design interview felt frustrating because the interviewer repeatedly guided the discussion toward minor or less important parts of the design, which consumed a significant amount of time and prevented me from properly covering the core architecture and trade-offs. Overall, the process was useful, but the system design stage felt inconsistent and highly dependent on the interviewer’s style.

The experience was disappointing and reflected a lack of professionalism. The interaction gave the impression of a disorganised or potentially unhealthy work culture. Answered most of the questions accurately and to the best of my ability. The interview was initially scheduled for a short time slot. Toward the end, the interviewer asked for my availability and indicated that they would schedule a follow-up session to continue the discussion. However, no further communication or follow-up was received.

During the initial HR screening call, the recruiter explicitly stated that Revolut was not hiring for a specific team and that team fit would be determined only after the coding and system design stages. However, after passing the screening, I received the following rejection message: “After carefully reviewing your experience, we've decided to move forward with candidates whose profiles more closely align with the specific requirements of the role. Please note that this decision is based on current team needs.” This creates a clear inconsistency in the communication. If team allocation and specific requirements were to be evaluated only in later technical rounds, a rejection citing “current team needs” right after screening appears contradictory. Such practices can lead to candidates investing time in the interview process based on incomplete or misleading information at the early stage.
