Unpleasant interview process.
After the recruiter call, a video interview was set up for the following day consisting of hiring manager and a peer.
On the day of the interview, hiring manager didn’t show up, and my first interview was conducted by a peer. He started recording the interview without seeking my consent. As a courtesy, I think even candidates should be asked whether they are comfortable to have the interview recorded.
During the interview, I tried to clarify certain areas pertaining to the job, and I was brushed off repeatedly. It seemed like the interviewer didn’t have the answer, but didn’t have the courtesy to let me know he didn’t have the answer.
Throughout the interview, the tone of the interviewer was condescending, just like the many reviews I read. He didn’t seem like he has the subject matter expertise to interview me, and I felt like he was asking me for suggestions and answers to the challenges and issues he wanted to solve, therefore I did not go in depth with my answers.
I am not keen to work for an employer who doesn’t even screen their candidates professionally, especially when this is a director position, it just says a lot about the company.
In fact to move over, it would be a pay cut , and yet I took time to prepare for the interview only to meet with such a bad experience and interviewer. I would say avoid this company at all cost. I won’t be keen in any of their roles or products any more after this.
