After applying online, received an email invite for the 1st interview [in-person/Skype]. I need to complete their resume in excel format and questionnaire document before the 1st interview. I attended via Skype since I live in Singapore. The were 3 managers who interviewed me. The interview went quite well for about 45 minutes. It was a healthy discussion, though we had minor difficulties in understanding our accents. All questions were from the resume along with typical interview questions like, "Tell us about yourself". No questions related to "Why Rakuten?". I thought I performed well in the interview and was quite sure that I would be selected for the next round. But, unfortunately received a generic rejection email next week from Rakuten. Tip: An advantage would be reading at least one of Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani's books. Trivia: I was wearing a t-shirt during the video call.
