It was really smooth. I enjoyed the conversational aspect a lot. The interviewers were both knowledgeable and personable. I wish more companies would conduct interviews like OpenPhone. OpenPhone's interview process respects the interviewee's time and goes in-depth about technical knowledge relevant to the role.
Honestly overall a positive impression of everyone I met and the company vibe. Seems like a good place to work. I waffled between putting "positive" or "neutral" experience but in the end I thought the 7 round interview with multiple technical rounds was way too much. They claim the takehome takes 4 hours but that's not even enough time to get the very basic functionality of their app written even with AI (which is allowed); it took me more than 12. I took a day off work to get 4 interviews done in a row only for them to reschedule the day before which was pretty disrespectful. Again everyone I met was very nice and genuine so I don't think this was bad faith on anyone's part, just disorganization.

The interview process took a little longer since it began over the holidays and recommenced in the new year. Of all the companies I interviewed with, my experience with OpenPhone was by far the best. They were great at communicating expectations for the interview and providing information on the topics each interview would cover. It never felt like they were trying to catch me out on things I didn't know, and instead really focused on understanding my knowledge as it related to their tech-stack.
The interview process was as follows:
1. Call with a recruiter
2. Call with potential manager
3. Systems Design interview
4. Product sense interview
5. Coding knowledge interview
6. Culture fit
