I was interested in the role, and had prepared a lot for it.
The HR round went well. The HR person was really invested, answered my questions really well and was really responsive. One of the best HR rounds.
Next round: Spoke with the manager and team. I had a portfolio showcase, and answered any questions along the way. It was a good experience,
Result: Completely ghosted by the team after my Round #2 despite given an initial response time of max. 1 week.
I waited for 2 weeks, because I really liked the company (but I mentally was aware of the result, given that this wouldn't be how they would possibly treat a candidate who would've potentially moved onto the next round).
I followed up, no response for another week. Then I finally hear back from the HR with an average rejection response. I followed up, by asking for any potential reasons which led to this despite a good interview process - well, as you may have guessed - No response.
The moral of the story: Company perceptions are susceptible to change. I have been rejected in the past, but ghosting rejection is new for me. If a candidate had a good interview, they should be given a reason or, at least, responded to with a rejection email.
What started as one of my most excellent interview processes became one of my most remembered ones for being the worst, especially when the company felt that the candidate wasn't a fit.
