I was scheduled for an on-site interview. Because I currently had a job. I had to take work off and basically deceived my employer. The day before they canceled my interview because they said someone had to go out of town, but they would reschedule and in the meantime, set me up with some virtual interviews. Although I had two virtual interviews, they never rescheduled my on-site interview and then sent me a rejection email even though I was told I was moving on to have an on-site interview. I also knew one of the other candidates who was applying for the role who happened to be good friends with the recruiter and was getting preferential treatment from them as well as getting insider information which felt really unfair. I heard afterwards they ended up having a hiring freeze and basically terminating almost all of the department so I guess I’m glad I didn’t waste more time with interviews.
