      The application process started positively, and I appreciated the opportunity to complete a video submission. However, I was disappointed by the feedback provided after the interview. The process required candidates to record video responses rather than speak directly with anyone from the company. As a result, the video submission is effectively the main opportunity to demonstrate experience, communication style, and suitability for the role. After investing time and effort into preparing and recording my responses, I received the following feedback: “Thank you so much for your interest in the People Experience Generalist position here at Prolific. We appreciate you taking the time to record your responses and for sharing more about your background and experience. Further to your video interview, unfortunately, we will not be progressing your application at this time. We were fortunate to meet many potential candidates for this role, and on this occasion we have decided to proceed with other candidates whose skills and experiences are more closely aligned with our current needs. However, if it’s okay with you, we would love to keep your application on file for future roles. We’re a growing start-up, so please keep an eye on the Prolific Careers Site and give us a follow on LinkedIn for other opportunities that may be of interest to you in the future! We greatly appreciate the time and effort you’ve invested in our process, and we wish you all the best in your job search.” Unfortunately, this felt like a generic template response rather than feedback relating to my actual submission. I completely respect the decision not to progress my application, but after completing a video interview, I would have appreciated some indication of what specifically was missing or what could have been stronger. More personalised feedback would make the candidate experience feel far more valuable, especially when applicants are investing additional time into recorded assessments.
