      Entretien

I attended a first-stage interview with this company about a month ago. Unfortunately, the experience aligned with some of the negative reviews I had seen, although a few of those reviews seem to have been removed. During the interview, I was asked personal questions that I found inappropriate, such as enquiries about my relationship status and sexuality. They also emphasised that their work environment is "old-fashioned," with limited benefits and a very fast-paced workload. They expressed a preference for quantity over quality, which suggests either understaffing or a disregard for the quality of their work. In the second-stage interview, the interviewers were 15 minutes late, which I found unprofessional and disrespectful. While waiting, I observed that the company experiences a high staff turnover rate. When I was finally brought into their main office, I was led to a glass room overlooking the workspace. The area was quite crowded, with around 20 people working closely together. The atmosphere was tense, and I didn’t see any signs of a positive work culture. The second interview was uncomfortable. The interviewer seemed disinterested, didn’t offer a handshake or engage in small talk, and never smiled throughout the entire interview. I’m not sure if they were physically unable to smile or just didn’t want to—either way, it made the process feel unnecessarily tense. After the interview concluded, I mentioned the negative reviews the company had received on Indeed and Glassdoor, which the interviewer claimed to be unaware of. Interestingly, in the weeks following my interview, the company suddenly received several five-star reviews, including one from the 'Cleaner' and two from anonymous former employees. Given the timing and content, I suspect these reviews might have been created to improve the company’s image. Overall, I would rate this company 1/5. It seems like more of a stepping stone than a place where employees can truly thrive, and I see little benefit to working there, as the environment seemed unwelcoming and the priorities misplaced.

Two stage interview. The first stage was okay, the two people I interviewed with were really welcoming and chatty. The red flag came when they warned me that if I was to reach second stage, the interviewer would be the MD and I needed to ‘prepare myself’ for her difficult nature. I did reach the second stage, and I’ve never had an interview like it. For starters, the second stage interview was in a completely different room to the first. In the first, the room was private and quiet. In the second, the interview was conducted in a glass meeting room in the middle of a busy working department - everybody could see the entire interview as it was clear glass all the way around. That put me on edge immediately. As for the MD, no only was she difficult, but she was downright rude. It was like she got off on making people feel uncomfortable. She asked personal questions unrelated to the role, and then would insult me and belittle my responses. She asked questions about family and even rolled her eyes a couple of times at answers I gave. When asked about what my boyfriend would say is my best quality as a person, the response to my answer was ‘are you soft?’. When asked what’s most important to me in life, I gave the answer of inter-personal relationships (at home and at work), and she responded by telling me that the company were looking for someone who would solely prioritise the business over family as making money is all that matters. Another example was when I was explaining results I’d gotten in a previous role, and she outright told me ‘that’s not impressive’. For anyone that’s thinking of applying for a role here, be warned that the MD will purposefully try to trip you up during the process. The other people I interviewed with were genuinely lovely, it’s a real shame that someone at the head of the company feels they can treat people the way that she did.
