This was an initial phone interview. The interview itself was pretty straightforward, covering background and experience. The discussion was enjoyable and I had the chance to learn more about the company and their goals for this role. I thought that part went well and the interviewer was prepared for the interview. The interviewer insisted on talking salary and benefits at the close of this call. Their target was well below my salary at the time and they didn't see any way past that, so our talks did not progress further.
