      Entretien pour Scrum Master

      Entretien

I applied to this position and was called right away for a screening. We set up an in person interview within a few days. The interview itself was long - about 2 hours, though at least 1 hour was selling me on the company (no worries there except that it's a little tiring to do that for an hour before you begin discussing the position). The interview with the Director of Agile was really great overall. I felt that the questions were relevant and my responses were able to give a feel of my leadership style and knowledge of Scrum. I thought it was an interesting approach that the interviewed wanted to answer his own questions. At times it felt like he wanted to hear himself talk but it also gave me insight into his own leadership style and whether it would be a good fit for me. I left feeling like I would want to take the next step and get a better feel for the role and work environment which was spending a day with the team. This would've given me the opportunity to assess if the job was what I was looking. Unfortunately, even though I followed up with both the interviewer and HR (twice, in fact), I never heard back. This was enough to turn me off especially after being fed how "people-centric"the company is and their initiatives to hire more women (which I was told would not be hired for leadership positions because they had to work their way up in rank - take that how you want). They asked for feedback on Glassdoor and I'm glad I waited to write it.

There were 3 stages to my interview process, all of which were different from the other. The 1st interview was a phone screen with Joe. Joe highlighted the company's history as well as asked a number of standard questions to see if I would be a potential fit for the role. My 2nd interview was at HQ, and was conducted by a Director in the company. The interview was both informative and thought-provoking as we went through a series of questions and scenarios. Finally, the 3rd (and best) interview was back at HQ. The 3rd interview consisted of a full day of job shadowing and interviews, with interviewers ranging from Director level to the CIO. Through the various individuals I had the opportunity to shadow, I felt I received a thorough and unique opportunity with Power to dive deeper into various roles within their Technology Department.

3 words describe my interview process - Efficient, Transparent & Personable. Efficient in that no time was wasted scheduling the various stages of the process. From the phone interview to the onsite/in-person face-to-face, all was scheduled in a timely manner. Internal decisions were made quickly, allowing the interview process to advance expeditiously. The full day onsite shadowing was welcoming in that it allowed me to experience life at Power. The curtain was pulled back for a full transparent view of the role. As for personable, I was quite honored to know that part of the hiring process, even for non-leadership roles, was to meet with the company's CIO. The meeting never felt like an interview. It was more of "let me get to know you session". I can't say many company's go to this extreme to screen their candidates. Power is a unicorn and I'm proud to be part of the family!
