While individual stages have been positive, the over process has been unnecessarily long (about 3 months) and poorly structured. Asked for a writing sample AFTER an in-person interview, when they already had reviewed a portfolio of examples. If they were concerned about my writing, why would they even bring me in to talk to the team. It's honestly, kind of insulting to ask a writer with over five years of experience and examples to basically do the job for free. My guess is that there are too many cooks in the kitchen making the decisions and the process takes a lot of work to tweak. It's a topic that came up during the interview, and everyone was very candid about it, very frustrated at some of the hoops they have to jump through, but also very optimistic about the changes they are making—however slow they may be.
