Unfortunately, the process was disjointed and there was very little communication. After applying, I connected with the hiring manager on LinkedIn and they went back and forth trying to schedule a phone conversation over LinkedIn Messenger. The first time something was scheduled, they followed up the next day apologizing for missing our time slot due to a meeting that went over — I found this unprofessional but proceeded with caution anyways. Hindsight is 20/20. After an initial phone conversation was held, I was given a technical take-home assignment to build a web app using the Plivo APIs. There was no timeframe or deadline in the assignment, but I completed it a week and a half later. After spending a substantial amount of time working on this project and sending it back, I received a curt reply that the role had been closed. This was not a great look for me, and I'm ultimately happy that it didn't progress further. I don't typically take the time to write a Glassdoor review for such a brief interview, but I do hope to save someone else the trouble of wasting their time without any specific guidance along the way. I would have expected clear guidance on when such a substantial assignment should be returned, as well as a courtesy email not to bother completing it if they had known the role was closed already.
