I was contacted by a hiring manager who asked me information about my background and then told me what projects they were working on. I then spoke to the manager of the project they were hiring for. The questions were pretty softball for the most part, but they didn't give me any concrete next steps or let me know they'd hired someone else until I emailed again well after when they said they'd get back to me.
Recruiter, 30 minute call. They started with what questions I had for them, then they asked about technical experience, what do I look for in a company and what qualities I look for in a manager. Then we discussed company goals and next steps.
