If you’re considering applying to Phenom, proceed with caution. For a company that claims to be “revolutionizing the HR space,” their own recruitment process is nothing short of a disorganized mess. The initial screening with their in-house recruiter was smooth, and the recruiter themselves was friendly and professional. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after that. I had not one, but two interviews cancelled at the last minute by hiring managers due to “conflicting priorities.” The third attempt at scheduling a second interview was even worse—the interviewer didn’t bother to show up, with the same tired excuse of “conflicting priorities” offered afterward. When I finally managed to get an interview, it was one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve encountered in my 12-year career. The interviewer seemed completely distracted—typing and clearly answering messages during our conversation. To top it off, she bizarrely fixated on irrelevant questions, such as what podcasts I listen to, instead of engaging with my qualifications or experience. For a company that markets itself as a leader in HR innovation, their recruitment process lacks the most basic level of respect for candidates’ time and effort. If this is how they treat candidates, I can’t imagine how they treat their employees. Phenom may have a shiny exterior, but the reality is chaotic, unprofessional, and utterly disappointing. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

I interviewed with Phenom back in December and made it clear to them there was a chance I was moving out of the Philadelphia area, to which they said that was not a problem. After a recruiter call and 3 rounds of interviews, I received an offer, only for when I clarified with them that I might be moving and could not guarantee I could be a hybrid employee, did they rescind the offer, as they preferred local hires. Then in March the recruiter reaches back out to me and says they are looking for a product manager, and I let them know my situation has not changed and I would need to be remote. They assured me that wouldn't be an issue as they are now considering remote employment for this role. Had a call with the hiring manager who was very assuring that the role could be remote. They had me talk to the VP who I had talked to the first time I interviewed, who then only asked me questions around my capability to be in office in some weekly capacity, despite me saying several times I was no longer living in the Philadelphia area. After this interview they ghosted me completely, despite me following up with the hiring manager and recruiter. There was clearly a huge disconnect internally on the team, and despite me being very upfront with them, they had me go through the interview process twice, only to ghost me.
