I liked it: I met briefly with the person who was to be my manager (but wasn't, upon hire)--and then spent more time with the project supervisor who had asked for a tech writer to join the team. She did not speak in corporate mumbo jumbo but rather asked in simple terms if I could carry out a task that would help her immensely.
