I was invited to an informal interview via Teams to discuss the role, my experience, and the next steps in the recruitment process. During the interview, I was told I would hear back within a few days, with a specific timeframe given for when a decision would be communicated. It's now been over a week and a half since that deadline passed, and I haven't received any update or communication at all.
I understand that not every candidate will progress, and I have no issue with being unsuccessful. What I do find disappointing is the complete lack of communication. Sending a brief email to let a candidate know the outcome is, in my opinion, the bare minimum and a basic professional courtesy.
For me, this reflects on the company's culture and how it treats people throughout the hiring process. If a company can't communicate respectfully with candidates after investing their time in an interview, I think that's a red flag prospective applicants should take into consideration.
