3rd party recruiter reached out to me unsolicited on LinkedIn and I set up a time to connect via Zoom. He then asked if I had SaaS experience which I responded that I did and referenced that my current company was a SaaS vendor and sent my resume. He messages me back 10 minutes later because he doesn’t see any SaaS experience on my resume.. I once again explain my current company. To make things even weirder, he asked me to confirm the calendar invite 3+ times via LinkedIn messaging within 2 hours..
Even after the odd encounter, I took the zoom call. He said he’s from Canada, but there was a massive language barrier between us. He did not sound French Canadian. I have an overview of my background mostly speaking of my relevant SaaS experience. He then asks me again what experience I have with SaaS. I’m not sure if there was too big of a language barrier or if he just didn’t know what SaaS is, but this was a huge turn off. He then read back his notes on my sales stats and they were all wrong, like way off. I had to repeat everything several times.
We then discussed salary, which we weren’t close on at all. I also noted that I would only move forward if there was a role I was better aligned with salary wise and I could stay within my field. He said he’d pass everything along to OpenText and they may reach out.
I was certain by the end that there was no way they were actually associated with OpenText and may have been trying to sell candidates to them, but to my surprise a representative from OpenText actually reached out to schedule next rounds.
There’s no way I would move forward in an interview process after that experience. I wouldn’t entertain the idea of working for a company who handles their interview process this way.
I would suggest vetting your recruiting firm not thoroughly or bring recruiting in house.

First call with HR (classic call around motivations, what do we know about the company etc)
Second call with Sales Director (why sales role, why do you want to switch company)
A sales director asked whether I was married and had kids. Pretty inappropriate, I was quite surprised that we keep asking this question in 2024

The interview process was pretty standard. You meet with a Human Resources person first then a phone interview with a manager and then an in person interview with the manager.

It was a very thorough interview process. Multiple steps including presenting to senior management. Overall a good process to determine the fit for both parties.
Some delays in moving to the next steps, but clear instructions were given when they did progress you along the different stages.

Question 1
They asked about motivation and cultural fit. This seemed important to them.
