      I applied online and was asked to prep something for the interview. Had the interview with the recruiter, and was asked to prep an additional content sample. The recruiter told me that if selected for the position, I would have a "hiring test" where I would need to work for 2 weeks without a contract. Recruiter didn't want to specify how many people actually pass/fail this test. Then I found out that although they advertised the job as Head of Content, they actually wanted someone to start out as a Content Writer and I'd need to "prove myself to the founder" in order to move up to Head of Content, the job I thought I was applying for. They refused to say whether this period of "proving" might last 1 month or 1 year. Huge red flag. I had an interview with the founder and he seemed to be generally unreasonable and an extremely unclear communicator. He is soft-spoken, mumbles, and rambles on a LOT. It was very difficult to get a clear answer to basic questions from him. He is currently running the whole company and the marketing team despite having no background in marketing or content and seems unwilling to listen to anyone who might actually have experience. Throughout the interview, he seemed like he wanted to put me on the spot and make things difficult on purpose. Speaking with him for an hour was unpleasant, so I can't imagine working closely with him. The whole experience with the company and founder seemed to be sh!t test after sh!t test. I withdrew my application after the interview. It did seem like they pay pretty well, although I didn't get far enough into the process to get any real clarity on salary. The recruiter I spoke with was nice and friendly (she was the only positive part of the interaction with the company).

      Question 1

      The founder made some odd choices with his interview. He made the recruiter sit through an hour long technical interview. At one point he insisted I explain everything in very simple terms to her for no real reason.
