What made it worse is they didn’t even have a proper senior person to interview me for the position, so they brought in a friend of the CFO – you genuinely couldn’t make it up. During one of the stages I was interviewed by someone about 6 years junior to me who hasn’t rolled out a single security framework, which made it pretty ironic being questioned on things they themselves didn’t understand. In the space of 3 months I made a significant impact and called out what I saw as clear waste of resources. This was done professionally, based on experience from much larger organisations with far more mature IT and security practices. In comparison, the way they handle even basic IT functions is honestly quite comical. The VP of Tech, who I reported to, never even did a proper introduction to the team despite multiple requests, so I had to build relationships from scratch. That pretty much sums up how disorganised things are internally. I would strongly advise anyone to think very carefully before taking a role here. If you’re someone who just wants to go along with things, you’ll probably be fine. But if you actually want to improve systems, enforce standards, and do things properly, this is not the place. It feels like a bloated MSP setup just leaching off the company, and senior leadership doesn’t seem to care. Good luck.
