Title: Disorganized and Unprofessional Interview Process Review: I interviewed for the position of Investment Director, Product Technology at OKX. Unfortunately, my experience with their interview process was disappointing due to several issues: Lack of Basic Information: During the initial screening interview with HR, I found that the interviewer was not familiar with key details about the position, such as salary range, team composition, or whether the role was a replacement hire. This lack of basic information set a concerning tone for the rest of the process. Unprofessional Conduct: The second interview was conducted by an Investment Director who did not turn on her camera and conducted the interview from a noisy location (e.g., a gym or café). This affected communication quality and made the interaction feel unprofessional. Additionally, despite being informed that the interviews would be in English, the interviewer insisted on speaking Mandarin, which, while manageable for me, might be challenging for other candidates. Inconsistent and Unclear Requirements: The interviewer questioned my qualifications for a computer science degree or certificate, which were not listed in the job description. When I pointed out that this was not part of the listed requirements, the interviewer’s response was dismissive and condescending. This highlighted potential issues with internal communication and a lack of respect for candidates' time and qualifications. For example, she asked, "Why don’t you have a computer science degree or certification?" despite this not being a requirement for the role. Longstanding Vacancy: It was mentioned during the interviews that this position had been open for an extended period—over 9 months according to LinkedIn. This prolonged vacancy, combined with the evolving and abrupt requirements imposed on candidates, suggests underlying issues within the team or company that may contribute to difficulties in filling the role. Poor Corporate Culture: The lack of team structure and the “lone wolf” nature of positions at OKX suggested a troubling corporate culture, with potential high turnover and distrust of new hires. This approach seemed to undermine collaboration and teamwork. Unrelated Technical Assessment: In the final interview with a member of the Web3 team, I was asked about technical concepts related to Web3 wallets, such as "Can you explain the difference between a hot wallet and a cold wallet?" Given my background as a non-technical founder, these questions felt irrelevant and disconnected from the role I was applying for. It appeared that my resume and LinkedIn profile were not reviewed thoroughly before this interview. Despite these issues, I was invited for another round of interviews, but after that, I received no further communication. The overall experience highlighted a lack of professionalism and respect for candidates. I hope this feedback helps others to be aware of these potential issues when considering opportunities with OKX. Pros: Nothing. Cons: Disorganized interview process Unprofessional behavior from interviewers Lack of clear communication and respect for candidates Prolonged vacancy and evolving requirements
