I had a recruiter from Northwell actively reach out to me on LinkedIn, interested in my background for a role. The first time, I was quite delayed in my response and never heard from them but figured covid had impacted open roles, etc. Flash forward almost a year and the same recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn again and asked me to send my resume to their email address. I did it quickly and was so excited to pursue a potential role at Northwell.
A week goes by, I haven't heard anything. So I check in to see if the email got to them.
The recruiter tells me "I contacted you twice but received no response or callback."
So, without scheduling a call with me, the recruiter called me twice and did not leave a voicemail or send a follow-up email to let me know they tried to reach me.
As a recruiter myself, I am constantly on the phone with candidates so I'm certainly not always able to answer calls, especially ones I am not expecting (it's also the age of robocalls, isn't it?).
I apologized for missing the call (even though, quite frankly, it is not even remotely my fault) and asked if I could still be considered for the role.
I got no response.
I followed up again just to clarify -- had I lost the opportunity to interview for the role?
Almost a week has passed and I've received no response.
I have multiple friends who work at Northwell and said their own interview processes were painstaking efforts that were extremely stretched out.
I wish I could have been considered for the role, because I provide a really great candidate experience for all of the roles I hire for. But instead, I got some really weird and rude treatment from a recruiter. I'm bummed.
