J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez New York Times en mars 2023
Entretien
Applied online -> 1 week -> Recruiter Screen -> Hiring Manager call -> Code challenge -> Virtual onsite
Onsite consisted of 30 minutes of technical questions, 2 45 behaviorals, and then 45 minute walking through code challenge.
Overall, not an especially difficult process, though it was lengthy as I spent quite a bit of time on the code challenge to use the same tech stack they did, but it probably didn't make a difference.
My onsite schedule was inaccurate, as my first interview was labeled System Design with 3 people, but as soon as I got on the call there was 1 person and he immediately started drilling me with technical questions. I was a little thrown off, but they were standard questions, just asked in an off putting way.
2 45 min behaviorals with people outside of your immediate function, mostly nontechnical folks. The questions for both of these are relatively the same and are standard behavioral questions. The interviewers are just reading off a list and I don't believe anyone was taking any notes so they are probably judging you based on how they feel about you.
Code sharing was fine, but I was asked a CS trivia question unrelated to the position I was interviewing for. Not sure what they were trying to achieve here.
Recruiter said he'd get back to me within the week, after not hearing anything for 1 full week I followed up and got an automated rejection. Rude. I'd heard good things about NYTimes from a former employee which is why I was interested, but overall the process felt sloppy and the pay is below market.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1

How did you deal with a coworker who was struggling.
If you were to quit in 1 year, what would the reason be?
How do you promote DEI efforts?
Recruiter who I was already in contact with recommended me to the position. 30 min engineering manager behavioral, 30 min leetcode medium problem, followed by 4 panel interviews. (uncertain of what the panel interviews consist of)
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
Go in-depth on a project you've worked on (impacts, engineering challenges, etc)
First initial phone screening on google meet with video. The recruiter missed the first call and I was waiting for 15minutes into my lunch break. I emailed the recruiter, they seemed sorry and then we rescheduled. Phone screening was as aspected, tell me about yourself, why NYT, logistics, etc.
15 minute recruiter call (informational, make sure to let them know if there are other roles you're interested in at the company as they could be a recruiter for that role as well), 30 min hiring manager, 30 minute technical
