Entretien
I had an initial phone interview or two, then the "Nerdery Assessment Test" which consisted of building an application that took around 10 hours (I believe they're making one that will take less time), and then a code review after that to go over my project with some engineers. I got an offer fairly quickly after the interview process, and they were willing to negotiate my salary.

Question 1
What could I have changed to make my application more efficient?
After submitting the initial application through Jobvite, I was contacted for an initial interview. In this interview, I was mostly asked questions about my experience in my reported discipline, the tools I used, why I liked it, and my personality. After that, I was given a code challenge. The challenge was to complete a simple web application using the standard tool sets for my discipline. They provided an API to use as well as detailed requirements. It was made clear I would be graded on my discipline only (.NET) but they would be impressed if I could show skills in JS/HTML/CSS as well. If you get a passing score on the code challenge, you proceed to a final interview where they ask a few more technical questions and also treat it as a sort of code review to see if you are capable of taking feedback and thinking about software long term.
I really liked the process. The code challenge gave me a chance to make my work speak for itself, which is great for someone like me that often gets nervous in interviews. The whole process was also very quick and efficient, making it through all steps and receiving my offer within two weeks.

Simple phone interview followed by a "Nerdery Assessment Test". This test, while relatively easy from the standpoint of an actual project, was asking quite a lot for a pre-interview test. I designed their full web app to the specifications supplied (which were sorely lacking considering the scope of the project).
I'm not sure if I would accept any offer from these guys. I'm a heart-and-soul nerd, but the culture here seems very fabricated. And that name, that name! How could I ever tell someone with a straight face that I work at "The Nerdery"? It's too much.
Anyway, there offer was awful, especially for the amount of effort they wanted applied to the interview.
