Was interviewed on the phone while I was traveling. The manager basically chatted about sales technique and ask me if relationship selling is important. The manager knew I had many years of experience and promised me quite a bit. I relocated to take the position. I was put up in a drab hotel, and immediately sent to training. Training was easy because I had experience. When I got back into the market everything changed. My compensation decreased considerately, my leads and accounts had been worked multiple times. I am stating this because everything that was stated in the interview process changed once out of their mandatory training. Even the job title changed. I thought I was interviewing for a Senior Sales Position, I was really hired to clean up. There is no money in clean up listings in a phone book. It is a hourly position that is normally done in the corporate office, not by a commissioned sales rep.

Typical 30 minute interview asking questions about background, how long I been selling, what kinds of products I sold in past. Process was easy, but, product (yellow pages) is a difficult sell in this time.
