Standard interview process: Initial phone screen followed by onsite interviews. No real difficult or in-depth interview questions. The hiring manager was professional, but the remaining interview team was a little less polished. This is a manufacturing environment, but I was somewhat surprised when one of the interviewers came into the interview wearing the classic black “concert tee shirt.” The interview team also seemed a little surprised that I was interviewing with them. “Why do you want to work here?” was one of the questions and it was said to me with a tone of disbelief. I got the distinct impression that no one was happy there and perhaps a slight tone of hostility. The company has been in a deep recession in its electronic component markets and is currently not matching is 401K plan. That suggests cash flow problems to me. Many cubes were empty and it appears that they are operating with minimum staff. The building was clean, but the outside grounds around the building looked like they had cut landscape maintenance. That is what I experienced.
