Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Monte Carlo Data (San Francisco, CA) en juin 2024

      Entretien

The process consisted of a tech screen as well as a systems design interview. As others mentioned a 6-hour take-home was required after all technical interviews were passed. This was followed by a debrief with the hiring manager as a final step.

Similar to what others have mentioned: I received a 6-hour take-home exam as part of the interview loop, and did not receive a mote of feedback on it when they rejected me days after my submission. I didn't personally care about the time commitment, but their lack of any input shows carelessness on their part to the candidate, which is a shame because I had two lovely chats with the recruiter and hiring manager prior to it. I noticed something else from the process, however, which makes me wonder if I dodged a bullet: To turn in your exam, you share it through github and then email them to get the emails of the people who will review it. The response to my email inquiring about whom to share my repo with came at 11:30 PM responder's time. I then shared it with 3 individuals: two devs and the hiring manager. One of the devs accepted the invitation at around 4:30 AM their time, and the other didn't accept the invitation until some time on Sunday morning or early afternoon in their timezone. This suggests to me that the company has a rough developer culture with poor work-life balance.

The process is too long (1 coding + discussion w/ hiring manager, 2 technical, 4+ hour take-home, and final interview w/ director). The interview I failed was a "system design" one where we went through a web crawler example. I'm okay with failing the interview but I felt some of my comments in the process were not acknowledged. I mentioned that websites likely do not have a million html pages and imo that removed scaling from the question but the interviewer doesn't acknowledge this and say "let's pretend." I don't enjoy one-sided interviews that ignore the other person's intuitions but most interviews are like that I guess.
