I actually really enjoyed the interview process. Had a phone interview with HR. Immediately with the hiring manager (COO). Scheduled an on site interview-meeting which allowed me a tour of the site, more detailed question and answer. At the end of the interview I was told "you are exactly what we are looking for". Timeline was explained to be a few weeks due to the 4th of July holiday. After reaching out at the 3 week timeline, I was told the interview process is finishing up and will be in touch at the end of the week. 4 weeks and finally got a one line email from the HR representative " we went with an internal candidate, thank you for your time in the process'.
