MAXIMUS claim to be leaders in occupational health – my impression was that they are far from being able to look after their staff, and are not welcoming to people, and far from being polite and respectful. I have never felt treated at an interview in such a cold, disrespectful way:
The receptionist referred to me as, ‘the candidate’; nobody walked me to the door or opened the door to make me feel welcome. The interviewers did not exchange any pleasantries with me to make me feel comfortable as I settled down. The male interviewer openly yawned at least three times whilst I was responding to questions. He hardly looked at me during the questioning, and seemed to be more interested in looking out of the window behind me. At the end of the interview, neither interviewer walked me to the door and nobody walked me out of the reception.
I left with one question in mind- if this is how they treat prospective employees who have likely travelled considerable distances to be interviewed by them, how would they treat them if they work for them? Another big question came to my mind – how do they treat the clients who come to be assessed? I left with so much sadness but also with the idea of sharing this experience with other people.
I should also raise awareness that the information in the job advertisements about the training and interview process is misleading, as it does not make you aware that after going through a telephone interview, doing a clinical case scenario, answering an online situational judgment test and attending a face-to-face interview, there would still be many more stages of the selection process to pass through in order to work as a functional assessor and four potential exit-points during and after the course if stringent tests are not met, which means you could potentially miss out on a lot of alternative job opportunities during this process.

Three stages. Phone call convo. Clinical exam and finally and Microsoft teams conversation with interviewers. I was explained this process in an initial conversation and was also told it is a quick turn around process. Maybe beneficial for those looking to side step the medical/NHS field
