      Entretien

While I understand that hiring decisions are ultimately based on the needs of the team, I wanted to provide direct feedback regarding my experience as a candidate. My interview was canceled approximately three minutes before the scheduled start time and later rescheduled. While I understand that conflicts can arise, what stood out was the lack of acknowledgment of the last-minute cancellation or any brief appreciation for the flexibility required to accommodate the change. Because of the reschedule, I had to take time off on two separate days to make myself available for the interview. During the interview itself with Jocelyn, there was also no acknowledgment of the prior cancellation or the inconvenience caused, even in the form of a brief thank you for flexibility. That absence stood out given the circumstances. During the interview, I felt there was limited opportunity to meaningfully discuss the depth of my experience and how it relates to the role. With over a decade of experience in production management, cross-functional coordination, vendor management, scheduling, and entertainment production, I expected a more substantive discussion of my background and transferable skills. Instead, the conversation felt brief and primarily focused on confirming specific qualifications rather than exploring the broader scope of my experience. As a result, I left uncertain whether my background had been fully evaluated in relation to the role. I was told that I would hear back within one week. It has now been three weeks with no communication or update. Adding to the frustration, Mattel’s recruiting email system does not allow candidates to reply, leaving me with no way to contact the recruiter or request a status update. Additionally, the overall tone and level of engagement did not reflect the preparation and effort I brought to the process, nor the level of professionalism I would expect from an organization of Mattel’s size and reputation. The combination of a last-minute cancellation, requiring candidates to rearrange their schedules twice, followed by weeks of complete silence without any means of communication reflects a level of unprofessionalism that fell short of basic candidate experience expectations. What was especially disappointing is that I was genuinely excited about this opportunity and had previously viewed Mattel as a company I would have been proud to contribute to. This experience has significantly changed that perception. I appreciate the time that was spent with me and understand that hiring teams have difficult decisions to make. However, I wanted to share this feedback because the overall experience did not reflect the level of professionalism, communication, or consideration I would expect from a company of Mattel’s reputation.

I was first invited for a back-to-back interview with two different people. I spoke with one interviewer for about 30 minutes and then a different interviewer for 30 minutes (senior manager and marketing director). They were both very friendly and the questions were not too difficult. I was then invited for a second round (final round) interview from a specific team (in this case, the hot wheels group). Again, it was about an hour and had 2 different interviewers back-to-back (associate managers of global brand marketing). It was not too difficult, questions were standard, and I felt like it went well. I didn't receive an update after two weeks and decided to follow up. I finally got a response from the recruiter who said I was not selected. I wish they had informed me earlier, as they probably wouldn't have contacted me for a long time had I not followed up. Overall, I had a pretty good experience and they were very organized but was disappointed because I was not selected for the internship.

Great Experience! Each person I spoke with was nice and courteous, very informative. I applied online and received an email from the hiring manager. Had a 30 min phone call and then scheduled a 30 min call with the manager of the dept. Felt like i had a good interview. 1 week later they let me know they went with someone with more experience. I felt that was fair and appreciated them getting back to me in a timely manner.

      Entretien

I interviewed at their office in March 2018 after applying through my school job board. I had two 30 minute one-on-one interviews back to back with two different hiring managers. It was mostly a lot of behavioral questions, varying in difficulty. I heard back about a week later with no offer. Case question on analyzing a toy was unexpected, and I know I completely bombed that.
