1st Interview - Phone Call (15 minutes) 2nd Interview - Virtual (4 hours) The first interview was with a Principal Researcher. Her objective was to get a feel for who I am and if I would be a good fit for the position. The second interview consisted of me meeting with different departments within Mathematica. Their questions focused on content, leadership, management and communication. I was also given a case study in which I had to create a 10-15 minute verbal presentation on how I would execute a training, data collection, working with multiple groups or recruitment. The second interview because of the time length appears intimidating but all of the interviewers were warm and friendly. Overall, both interviews felt more like a conversation with colleagues. I’m waiting to hear back from HR.

Entire process took about 4 months from start to open ended finish. Applied in October 2019 and received an invitation for a phone screener about two months later. Then I was invited for an onsite interview at the Ann Arbor office. This onsite interview and the phone screener was difficult to schedule as the recruiter would forget to confirm with me and I would have to nudge them. I get things are busy, but this honestly left a bad impression and I also felt like while all the employees were nice and welcoming, they seemed very stressed and not all that interested in the interview process. On site interview is about a half a day and very repetitive. This process could definitely be more efficient and accomplish the same goals with less people and less time. I never got a good idea of what they actual position entailed despite asking directly. Recruiter said that I should hear back within two weeks but has not gotten back to me despite my follow up emails. That's alright though. I don't think this would have been a good fit as the management system seems chaotic and there is little follow through.
