      Entretien pour Business Consultant

      26 oct. 2017
      Employé (anonyme)
      Arlington, VA
      Offre acceptée
      Expérience positive
      Entretien difficile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un établissement d'enseignement supérieur ou universitaire. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Mastercard (Arlington, VA) en sept. 2017

      Entretien

I applied through my college's job platform, Handshake, and got a first round. The first round consisted of two, 30 minute interviews. The first 5 minutes or so was a brief introduction (name, their position, "why did you apply?"), followed by a case. The cases themselves were somewhat math heavy, so be prepared. Both were multitiered, getting to one "conclusions" then considering a complication (so more math). Overall the interviewers were very helpful during the process and answered questions in a helpful manner. In between my first and final rounds (there are only two) I ran a practice case with my interview "buddy" that reached out via email. It was super helpful and informal, and the feedback I got was valuable; definitely try to do one with your buddy (or even two, mine offered!). The final round was at their office (Arlington for me) from 8:00AM to 3:15PM. There was a panel, presentation, and four, 45 minute long interviews. These were similar to the 30 minutes interviews, except with more time for questions and behavioral stuff before and after the case. The cases were math heavy, again, but varied on topics and focus. Different industry each time, but sometimes the math seemed to be the most important part, other times the logic and strategy of your decisions. Either way both were important, the emphasis just changed. For one I had to sketch graphs and interpret them, for example. It took them the weekend to get back to me.

      Question 1

You have drug X and Price Scenarios A, B, C. Which Price scenario do you pick? What are some reasons this may be unrealistic? You're a car dealership. Based on a step-based incentive structure, what is your break even with the first strategy? With the second?

first round consists of 2 case studies, 30mins each. They were dissimilar to a typical business case that you would do for MBB for example. Instead, its much more like a single problem that you have to solve. Will typically be a revenue problem for example or 'should we go ahead with this project'. Behavioural was about 7mins long and is basic. If you clear the first stage, second round is four 45min cases.

      Entretien

I applied through campus recruiting. I had two on-campus first round interviews and then 4-5 second round interviews in the DC office. In addition, the super-day included a presentation, lunch, and a networking dinner the night before. All of the interviews involved a case and some personality questions/questions about why I wanted to join APT. The interview process overall was nice, and everyone I met was genuine and enthusiastic about their jobs. I turned down the offer because the work itself didn't seem terribly exciting.

Asked me case questions like how would I approach launching a new product or switching manufacturers.
