I sent in an application for Majux. They sent me two writing samples to complete as part of the interview process. I did legal research for these samples and worked very hard to complete them within an appropriate time frame. I was told that they would review the writing samples and contact me for a phone interview or compensate me for my writing. Well they didn't do either. I never heard from them again. I followed up multiple times and there was still no response. If you want to join this company except to do UNPAID LABOR as part of the interview process and then never hear from them. If someone from Majux is reading this - please stop using the candidate's time like this. It's disrespectful to ask someone to write two 1,000 word samples and then never give them any sort of feedback. This isn't even about being hired or selected for an interview. It's about respecting someone's time and effort they put into the actual application process.

Thank you for your feedback. We currently do not have any applicants on record who are owed compensation for writing samples that we have received. If there has been a miscommunication, if we missed an application from you, or worse, if you submitted an application to someone impersonating our company, we'd love to hear about it. Please email me directly at jobs@majux.com. I'd be happy to review what has happened in your case so we can take action accordingly. I always try my best to make myself available to candidates across the board, and I would love an opportunity to rectify any mistakes on my end. As a policy, we do not accept unsolicited writing samples. After an applicant makes it to the second round of screening and we request writing samples, we then make sure to compensate applicants whose writing samples we have received at the time that they are rejected. Our recruiting process for writers can be quite extensive and can take anywhere from a week to two months between when we first receive applications and when a final decision is made (and anyone who has been rejected receives compensation for samples.) With that said, we are going to implement a few changes to our recruiting process for writers to avoid these types of issues. Moving forward, there will be stricter deadlines for candidates to submit samples. Additionally, all candidates will be compensated for their samples no more than 48 hours upon submission- regardless of whether they move on to an interview or when they are accepted/rejected for the position. Again, please feel free to reach out to me for any questions or clarifications. Best, Carelle
