J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Magic Ears (Jacksonville, FL) en mai 2018
Entretien
After applying a received a congratulations email saying I was invited to the interview process and demo class. The interview was supposed to last 20 minutes, and was ended in 14. The interviewer seemed in a hurry, however I believe everything went well. I used prop's and TPR's just as recommended and needed for these type of online teaching jobs. I received an answer saying they was not going forward with my application because they are looking for native american speakers that lives in North America and Canada. I read the email more than 3 times in disbelief.
I am born and raised in United States.
I am an USA citizen
I live in NORTH AMERICA
My Bachelors is from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (which is a commonwealth territory of Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans are USA CITIZENS and bilingual.)
I don't have an accent, but even if I did, unless I am not being understandable and my pronunciation is not accurate there is NO reason to reject me or to THINK I do not live in the United States. Many mentors and Asian staff have a very pronounced accents -even Canadians!- and they work with ME and similar companies.
This is discriminatory and unprofessional. These "mistakes" are unacceptable. I'm seeking which US agency audits and oversees this company.
The interview process entailed of a short demo video, and two online interviews in which it was necessary to pretend to teach with the given materials. They suggest that you create some props and be as enthusiastic and fun as possible to align with the company values.
The interview went very well and my mock class but they never got back to me. They said they would reply in 2 or 3 days. Never contacted me again. Unreliable company.
The interviewer was a pleasure, extremely friendly, and informative. Beginning with a few mandatory questions we then began the interview process which was, too, rather pleasant. All material was available prior to the interview, allowing for pre-reading and preparation. Expectations were clerly outlined. All-in-all, enjoyable.
